Making Money in a Home-Based Business is supposed to be EASY

Hello Everyone,

 I’m back! I just spent some time putting some things in order. In the process, I came across a new phenomenal home-based business opportunity! I did my research and feel that it’ll be a huge success. However, that’s not what I wanted to talk about.

What I did want to discuss was the fact that I immediately wanted to call all my family and friends and share it with all of them. For a short moment I believed that they would all see the “light” and get involved immediately.

Then I remembered what happened the last time I introduced them to a new ” MLM opportunity”. Ouch…it still stings thinking about it.  I had to check myself. This is a new business that needs to be marketed a new way. A new way that actually works. Then I got really excited. I will now be attracting my prospects to ME! Only those who are actually looking, ready and willing to move forward. This is an exciting time for all network marketers who have seen the light!

 It’s actually a relief to know that I never have to harrass anyone again about an opportunity to make money from home!

“Why Do Most Network Marketers Fail?”

Network marketing is Simple, but doing it the old way (i.e. old calling people) is NOT easy.

Let me explain my view of why network marketing is notorious for having a 95% or higher failure rate…have you ever heard of Occam’s razor?

It states that the simplest explanation for a phenomenon is usually the best. We’ll use this theory to explain why more than 95% or more network marketers fail.

Ready?

Most network marketers fail because the marketing methods they are taught don’t work 95% or more of the time. So we’re led to ask the next logical question, what are most fledgling network marketers taught? Well, I can only speak from my experience, but what is commomnly taught is to buy and cold call leads.

Now, I’m not going to say this doesn’t work, but what I will say is that this tactic doesn’t work for most marketers. Honestly, unless you’re a natural-born confident salesman going into your network marketing career you’ll probably have poor results. Don’t get me wrong some people are very good at cold calling leads, but most people aren’t.

What happens to most people after they’ve spent thousands of dollars on leads with very little success after months of effort? They run out of money. They get burned out and then . . . they give up.

Another important factor contributing to why most network marketers fail is the type of leads they buy.

Why does the type of leads network marketers use make a difference? Well . . .business opportunity leads, the leads most new network marketers are told to use are generic. These leads answer an ad that just asks them if they want to be financially free or make money from home or something like that.

Well . . . of course they do! But that doesn’t mean they want anything to do with YOUR
network marketing business.

When the average network marketer calls these generic business opportunity leads the leads don’t know anything about the network marketer’s business and for the most part don’t care. This leads to the fledgling network marketer hearing a lot
of “NOs”.

Hearing NO all the time leads to quite a bit of self doubt, both about the network marketer’s own ability and the validity of their association with their network marketing
company.

Negative feelings begin to harbor and as was said before eventually the network marketer gives up, usually within 3-6 months. The fledgling network marketer’s perception of their
business goes from one of opportunity to one of complete doubt and negativity.

Reality follows perception, so because the fledgling network  marketer believes both themselves and their business as having little hope this becomes TRUE.

That’s basically why 95% of network marketers fail.

“The Dirty Truth About Network Marketing/MLM That you Must Know”

On the surface, network marketing companies appear to be thriving communities of consuming customers all happy with the product that they are consuming and they really are, but what drives that community of thriving consumers has absolutely nothing to do with the product itself.

Let me ask you a question:  Why did you decide to get started in a network marketing business?

You don’t have to say anything out loud but answer this question in your head right now to yourself.

I guarantee your answer is somewhere along these lines of “Well, I started my business because I wanted to make some extra money and who knows maybe even become financially free.”

Am I right?

Well let me ask you another question now.

When you prospect and talk to leads about your business what do you talk to them about?

Most likely you try to stick to the corporate script which inevitably ends up with your prospect asking you questions about your network marketing companies products or services.

And by the end of the conversation you’ve lost control of the call and both you and your prospect end up confused (usually somewhere between details about your company’s
product or service and the compensation plan).

You get off the phone and hope that by some grace of god your prospect you paid $5 to confuse will decide to join your business.

Likely story!

Here’s why: Successful Network Marketing has NOTHING to do with selling
your prospect on your product at ALL!

To the contrary, the only thing that you should EVER talk to your prospect about is the same thing that got you sold on your company’s business . . . More Money and Financial
Freedom!

You see network marketing is built on financial hopes and dreams. If you’re looking for business builders to recruit into your organization, your prospects hopes and
dreams of financial success are the only thing that you should speak to them about, so they can sell themselves on it.

As an illustration of this principle think about the situation this way, if you had equal amounts of your company’s product in one hand and money in the other which do you think your prospect would choose?

The top money earners know the answer to that question and that’s how they make all their money!

Here’s the other shift in perspective that you’re going to have to make if you want to have ultimate success with your business and it’s simply a logical continuation on the point
just discussed.

What you think of as your company’s product is NOT its real product at ALL!

Do you think your network marketing company’s product is its moon juice or long distance service?

If you do you’re very wrong.

Continuing on from my last point, remember your network marketing business will not grow if you just push a product. It will only grow if you sell people on their financial
dreams.

So if you think about it, your company’s real product is it’s sales training and marketing system. The better your company’s marketing system, the more you generate
sales. The more sales you make the more quickly you will be able to reap the financial benefits of your business.

To extend this point further, eventually you’ll want your downline to do all the work so you don’t have to.

The simpler and more effective the marketing system plus the stronger the training your company provides, the easier your system will duplicate.

If you want to think about it in its most simple form, your company’s real product is its duplicability.

If you find a system that is easy to duplicate and you can have your prospect “sell themselves” on their financial dreams you will have a highly successful network marketing business.

Your Job is Simple:

Find people that want to attain financial freedom and then shorten their learning curve so that they can go out and do the same.

R.I.P to the OLD SKOOL methods of Network Marketing

I’d like to step back to where I originally started with this blog and discuss the roadblock in my network marketing business.

Things started to turn sour when I realized that what I had been taught in my MLM business wasn’t working, at least not very well.

Unlike many network marketing businesses, I was not encouraged to buy leads and cold call. I was, however, encouraged to hit up my “warm market”. First I contacted everyone I knew, even if I hadn’t spoken to them in 10+ years, and somehow I introduced them to my business. I was told exactly how to do it and it didn’t go very well. I was encouraged to keep trying. After all it’s just a “numbers game”. Well, throughout the process, I lost and/or temporarily scared away many of my friends and associates. It was painful and I felt so horrible. Why? I was very proud of my company and it has one of the best reputations in the industry. Not to mention a solid compensation plan that impressed even the toughest of skeptics. I couldn’t figure out why they didn’t want to get involved or why they would decide to hide from me.

So I moved on to the “cold market”, people I didn’t know that I encountered throughout the day, everyday. The idea was to strike up a conversation and build rapport with total strangers. Then I somehow found a way to “qualify them” as a possible prospect. The goal was to get some information in their hands that they could review and that I could follow up with them on. That process proved to be cumbersome as well.

Let me say this before I continue. I am a VERY social person, I make friends with ease and am easily liked, even by strangers. Somehow, prospecting total strangers was not so easy. I had a very difficult time approaching people or striking up a conversation when I knew my agenda was to introduce them to my business. I felt as though I were not being genuine and that people would know it. Now I did manage to have a few successes, but none of those people joined my business or subscribed to my service after I followed up with them. They were just people who were kind enough to take my materials in exchange for their personal information.  

I was told that if I just kept at it, I would get better, it would be easier and BOOM, I’ll have people signing up left and right. The goal was to find the next big heavy hitter that would take my business all the way to the top. Well, it never got any easier, just more difficult and frustrating.  

 I quickly realized what the problem was.  The reason why I wasn’t having much success was because the vast majority of the people that I spoke to WERE NOT interested in a home-based business or any type of business. They just wanted to mind THEIR OWN business. They didn’t ask for information, or to become a prospect.

When people feel like their being sold something their natural reaction is to resist! Even if what they see, read or hear makes sense and may even appear to be a great opportunity, they didn’t voluntarily seek it on their own. That was they key. The issue really wasn’t that most people weren’t interested, that was undersood. The problem was that those who were potential prospects or were really interested in making money from home RESISTED the opportunity!

Before I go even further, I must pose this question first. Can a person have success in their home-based business by following the same s.y.s.t.e.m that most MLM companies teach? The answer is ABSOLUTELY and many people have. In fact my sponsors are one of the MOST SUCCESSFUL leaders in the entire company. They are doing exactly what I and many others struggled to do and are consistently earning a 5 FIGURE INCOME EVERY MONTH!

In order to have success by implementing what I call the “old-skool” methods of MLM a person has to do A LOT of it for a LONG TIME. It also takes a certain type of person with a certain mindset to succeed this way. There’s no telling when they will have success. It could take weeks, months or maybe even years. But most people who dedicate their hearts, minds, money, and time to a business that doesn’t fulfill thier expectations will give up. 

The hard fact is that 97% of MLMers fail. There is no singular reason as to why most people fail. However, there are many people who truly want success, believe in their network marketing opportunity and know that it could be profitable if there was just a better way. I knew there had to be an easier way. I knew that if I wanted to have success, I had to ATTRACT my prospects, not chase after them. I wanted meet people who were looking for an opportunity and open to what I had to share. That was the answer.

When people are seeking an opportunity to make money from home or join an MLM and they go out and find it on their own, they are more receptive. I knew I had what people were looking for. I just needed a way for them to FIND ME or for me to ATTRACT THEM TO ME. I had no idea if that was even possible or if it could be possible. 

I mentioned this revelation to a business associate of mine. Several weeks later I received a call from them. They had something very interesting to share with me. That was the day that my network marketing career changed forever.

Why Network Maketing will always work and will always make MONEY.

Some people believe that network marketing really doesn’t work. To put it lightly, they’re WRONG. I am going to take the next few minutes to explain to you why network marketing will always work so that the next time someone takes the time to tell you that network marketing doesn’t work you explain to them how misinformed they truly are.

Here is why Network Marketing will ALWAYS work:

Even in a strong economy people will ALWAYS need
supplemental income:

The truth is most people live paycheck to paycheck. They aren’t able to buy the nice things that they want for themselves and their families. There is and will always be a constant DEMAND for more money. Network marketing is a simple, part time and low risk way for full time workers to fill this need. To put it simply, as long as people need
money network marketing will ALWAYS be there to fill that need.

People will ALWAYS want freedom from jobs they don’t enjoy:

Despite what you may think, there are people out there that truly don’t enjoy their jobs. A recent nationwide survey found that 77% of employed individuals HATE their jobs. They go to work because they have to and not because they want to. Network marketing
offers a promise of true financial freedom. The ability to leave the 9 to 5 working world. This freedom will ALWAYS be too tempting to pass up.

People will ALWAYS want more free time to do with as they please:

Did you know in a past poll conducted by Money magazine that 64% of American men and 68% of American women polled said that if they had a choice between more money and more time off they would choose the time? People covet their freetime. Network marketing offers the promise of working from home and making your own hours. Again, the opportunity to create free time will ALWAYS draw people to network marketing.

Obtain Success the RIGHT WAY through Network-Marketing and MLM.

Network marketing is not easy, at least not for those who are looking to have major success.  Way too many times people join my business jumping in on a hope and a dream. Hopes and dreams are wonderful but network marketing is a REAL business which requires both logical and educated thoughts and actions.

When people get caught up in the possibility of a better life sometimes they don’t think clearly. All too often the decision to start a home-based business is based off of EMOTIONS. These emotions are usually the ones that keep them up at night. Worries about bills that aren’t getting paid, families they barely get to spend time with, vacations they never get to take, a job that basically controls thier lives. They think if they can just get themselves in they will get make massive amounts of money, have more time freedom, and be set free from their jobs.

It’s not just about getting yourself in.

It’s about getting yourself in and putting yourself in a position to be able to fully maximize the opportunity at hand. Most people who start never get past the first month. Why? Because they aren’t willing to change themselves to change thier lives.

I get asked the following WRONG question all the time.

“How long until I make money?”

It’s not about how long until you make money it’s about what you have to do to make money.

The truth is, you could put yourself in a profitable situation tomorrow or today, but it would take resources and a good deal of learning and personal growth to know how to do it. That’s where the problem lies. We live in an instant gratification society. We expect results and progress quickly. When a person’s  home-based business doesn’t produce the results they were expecting in the time expected, they cave in and quit. This only takes 24 hours in most cases. That’s not reasonable or smart.

The truth is, the fast way is never the FREE and EASY way. It’s either going to take you a good deal of money to put yourself in a profitable position or a good deal of education and leverage, and most of the time both.

There is no luck factor.

You don’t earn money until you are worth the income you produce. As the great Earl Nightingale always says “You have to be worth more than you are getting paid for your income to grow.”

The ups and downs of the multi-level marketing opportunity

 A major family medical emergency called me away from my home -based business. Very far away. As a matter of fact I left the country for two months. In that time, all my excitment and enthusiasm diminished. I had managed to recruit  several people in my business and by the time I returned, that had all quit. Most of them went into the “network marketers witness protection program”. Even the climate of the opportunity meetings had changed. It wasn’t the same and I was devastated. I believed that my business was going to set me free and I had high hopes. I so desperately sought the same high and excitment I had before I left.

Fortunately, a major convention was coming up soon. And as luck would have it, my trip had already been booked and paid for in advance. If anything could lift me out of that depression, it should be THE biggest annual convention in my business. And it did! I was on FIRE I tell you. I saw the big picture again! I saw all the super stars who up to that point I had only heard about. I even ran into people that I knew from my home state who were also associates. It was truly a life changing experience that I will never forget. I felt I was back on track. I lost sleep just thinking about all the $$$ I would make when I returned. YES!!! However, the emotions were fleeting and soon I was back in neutral. I would soon run into major obstacles in my business that would cripple me for well over a year.

The beginning of a journey in network marketing

 I was introduced to multi-level marketing by my best friend and her husband. They had been involved for a short time, had had some real success and decided to bring me in. Getting me involved wasn’t so easy. They didn’t actually take me through “the system” to get me involved. It was more along the lines of “this thing is awesome and you’ve gotta do it!” Under normal circumstances, this type of recruiting is a big “no-no”. However, they were my friends, and were already very successful traditional business owners. One would think that if there was anyone I would listen to it would be them. Instead, I had every excuse and objection one could think of.  After about two hours of countering my objections, and shooting down all excuses, I finally gave in. I figured that I had very little to lose, and a lot to gain. I didn’t know it then, but I was wrong.

I sat on my new opportunity for about 2 months before I finally took action. I had no idea what I was getting into . I went to my first “opportunity meeting” and it was a done deal. I immediately saw the vision and the whole thing just made sense. My dad and stepmom came to my first meeting and they got excited too. I immediately recruited them as well as a cousin and my brother. I was so anxious and excited, I couldn’t sleep at night. I told everyone I knew about my new business. I experienced an emotional high unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I truly believed that that excitement would continue and that all was well with the world. I had ARRIVED! I had found MY CALLING and PURPOSE IN LIFE! This home-based business was MY DESTINY, MY MISSION, my path to FREEDOM and WEALTH!

It didn’t take long for that that roller coaster to come to a screeching halt!
